Instructor Apprenticeship Program
(8.25 hours, 9 weeks)9 week includes (pre-season on hill training dates) up to 2.5 hours per week of on-hill cloass trainign and 36 volunteer hours, plus a bonus of additional volutunteer hours if 100% attendance is achieved, including the pre-season orientation, classroom training and on-hill training session.
For Advanced skiers and snowboarders 13 years and up.
Designed for those interested in becoming instructors in the near future, this program prepares apprentices with valuable training and experience working alongside certified professionals.
Each day includes on-hill training with Brimacombe’s pros followed by hands-on experience as a volunteer counsellor at the Pee Wee Ski Camp and/or assistant at Brimacombe Snow School.
In addition to practical experience, apprentices receive valuable on-snow and indoor training that helps prepare them for the Level 1 Instructor Certification Course offered separately through either the Canadian Ski Instructor Association (CSIA) or the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI).

All volunteers will be interviewed for potential employment with Brimacombe Snow School once Level 1 certification is achieved.
Please note: Apprentices are required to attend a pre-season orientation and in-classroom training session on December 10 or December 11, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM to confirm program expectations and schedule, attendance and program’s daily schedule and the first in-class room teaching session. On-hill training will be scheduled for Saturday January 7, 2017 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM or Sunday January 8, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Already a certified instructor? Our award-winning Snow School is always accepting applications from certified instructors. Not certified yet? If you’re 15 or older and a strong skier, we can help direct you to becoming a certified ski or snowboard instructor.
Becoming an Instructor
To become a certified instructor you must pass a Level 1 certification course with either the Canadian Ski Instructors Association (CSIA) or the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI). While Brimacombe holds such certification courses on-site several times each season, we are simply the host site. All interested parties must register through either the CSIA or CASI. Please see below for basic course descriptions and a link to the respective websites.

Volunteer hours can be credited towards High School Community Service hours. Apprentices are eligible to receive up to 100% back in the form of a Brimacombe gift card on the cost of the program depending on the number of volunteer hours completed. This will be processed at the end of the season once all volunteer hours are calculated.
